Premier Fix Awarded Old British School Reading

We are pleased to announce that following a successful tender, Premier Fix have been awarded the wall and floor tiling package for 14no new build homes in the former Old British School in Katesgrove Reading.

This project will see Premier Fix responsible for installing porcelain wall & floor tiles, including feature walls to bathrooms and en suites throughout this residential development.

The former Old British School building itself is a Grade II listed building and has mainly remained vacant for nearly 34 years apart from being used partly as a youth club in 2005.

Built in 1810, the building is believed to be the oldest surviving school established by Joseph Lancaster, an educational reformer.

Additional buildings were added to the site in 1815 to provide an infant school at the eastern end of the building and to remodel the Southampton Street frontage in the Italianate style.

It ceased to operate as a school in 1903 and was subsequently used by the council as a school meals kitchen until 1972.

We are delighted as a company to be involved with a high profile development, which will see this historic building brought back to life as modern family dwellings in 2014.
